Global Impact Investing

Monday, February 13    |    2:15pm - 3:05pm

Industry experts explore the momentum that has driven "impact investing" from the fringe to the mainstream in the past decade. In November 2016 US-SIF reported that "sustainable, responsible, impact investments" rose to nearly $9 trillion in the United States, up from $6.5 trillion in 2014. Growth trends include demand from millennial and female investors, the limitations of philanthropic capital, financial returns on par with traditional investments, and social benefits. Additionally, a 2015 US government ruling for pension funds clarified the importance of environmental, social, and governance factors as part of fiduciary duty. However, many investment professionals still feel anxiety on this topic. The panel will address both the exciting opportunities from impact investing, and lingering concerns.
