Chief Investment Officer, Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago

David Brief - David Brief is the Chief Investment Officer for the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago. In this role he oversees all aspects of the organization's endowment and pension fund investments, including a $700 million Pooled Endowment Portfolio that combines assets belonging to several dozen other Jewish philanthropic entities. Specific areas of responsibility include the setting of investment objectives, distribution policy, asset allocation strategy, selection and monitoring of outside advisors and managers, performance analysis and reporting, and oversight of the custody and administration of Federation assets.

Prior to joining the Jewish Federation in 2002, David spent eleven years as an investment consultant for CRA RogersCasey, Ennis Knupp + Associates, and Ibbotson Associates. He also served as Director of Research for the former two firms. Throughout his career, David has authored numerous research papers and has been a frequent speaker at industry conferences on a wide range of investment topics. He received a B.A. in economics from Cornell University, an M.B.A. with honors from the University of Chicago, and also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
